"Schnitzel and Snow Globes" completely charmed me! This is another winner in the Bells Pass series, and honestly, I might say it's my favorite yet. Honor and Dawson's story is just so compelling, perfectly blending heartwarming romance with genuinely affecting moments of vulnerability and healing.
From the start, the "enemies-to-lovers" dynamic between Honor, the widowed English teacher with a wonderfully relatable teenage daughter, and Dawson, the stoic, yet secretly sweet, veteran German teacher with a past marked by trauma, had me hooked. Their initial clashes at the Nightingale Diner and throughout the school felt authentic, not forced, and their gradual thawing was deeply satisfying to witness. Mettner masterfully builds the tension and chemistry between them, making their eventual connection all the more poignant.
I especially loved the way the author incorporated Dawson's physical injuries – the missing fingers and eye – not as a mere plot device, but as an integral part of his character and his journey to self-acceptance.
